Its clean and simple design perfectly compliments the elegance of the glass CHEMEX® carafe. The unmistakable quality and effortless functionality are in tune with the enduring philosophy that beauty and science can be one in the same.

The Ottomatic coffeemaker used together with the scientifically designed, patented CHEMEX® Bonded Filters and the CHEMEX® carafe brewing process delivers the perfect cup of coffee, without any sediments or bitter elements - every time. Now with an optional Iced Coffee Mode!

Automatically manages key brewing variables such as:

    • Pre-Infusion
    • Contact time of water to coffee
    • Heating water to the Specialty Coffee Industry target temp (197.6F-204.8F)
    • Hot Plate keeps the coffee warm for up to 30 minutes to avoid burning or compromising flavour.

Introducing the "Greedy Cup" Sprayhead Technology:

    • Staged brewing cycle
    • Pulsing water bath which ensures maintained temperature
    • Wetting of entire coffee bed
    • Facilitating even extraction

    Includes:

    • Six Cup Classic Series Coffeemaker
    • Small pack of CHEMEX® Bonded Filters
    • Glass coffeemaker cover
    • Coffeemaker cleaner
    • Capacity: 40oz (1183ml)
    • Fits all 3, 5, 6, 8 cup CHEMEX® coffeemakers (may be used with 3 & 5 cup CHEMEX® handblown brewers, but cannot be used with the 8 or 13 cup CHEMEX® handblown brewers)
    • Made in Ireland by Marco
    1. Place the Ottomatic on a level surface and plug in the cord.

    2. Fill the tank with cold water to the maximum capacity of 8 cups and switch the Ottomatic's switch to the "II" position to allow water to run through into a glass CHEMEX® carafe (without coffee).

    3. Allow the Ottomatic to cool down for 5 minutes before repeating this process. Do this at least two times before brewing with coffee. Use either the cup measurements on the water tank on the Ottomatic, or the glass CHEMEX® carafe to measure your water. Be sure not to exceed the capacity of your glass carafe (30 ounces for 6 cup, 40 ounces for 8 cup).

    4. Grind your favourite whole bean coffee to a medium coarse ground.

    5. The brew clip provides an additional air channel to prevent slow flow rate. Place the "brew clip" on glass CHEMEX® carafe, on the opposite side of the pouring spout.

    6. Open a CHEMEX® Bonded Coffee Filter into a cone shape so that one side of the cone has three layers, and place it into the top of the brewer. The thick three-layer portion should cover the pouring spout.

    7. Use 5 grams of coffee for every 80ml of water, or use one rounded tablespoon of ground coffee for every 5 oz. cup goes into the filter cone. Feel free to adjust slightly to taste.

Brewing with Hot Plate Activated: Set switch to single line "I". A solid red light will appear below the word "CHEMEX®" found on the base plate. It will remain on throughout the brew process. Upon completion of the brew process, the red light will change to a solid white light. Leave glass Chemex carafe in place for another minute or two to allow for all water to filter through. Remove filter, enjoy!

Hot Plate automatically shuts off after 30 minutes, this is indicated by the white light blinking. Hot Plate can be reactivated for another 30 minutes by pressing the switch to the "O" position and then back to the single line "I" position. The white light will become solid again.

Brewing with Hot Plate Deactivated: (This method can be used to make Iced beverages): Set switch to double line "II" A solid red light will appear below the word "CHEMEX®" found on the base plate. It will remain on throughout the brew process. Upon completion of the brew process, the red light will change to a blinking white light.

    1. Leave glass Chemex carafe in place for another minute or two to allow for all water to filter through. Remove filter, enjoy!

    2. Final Step: Enjoy the perfect cup! Pour your freshly made coffee into your CHEMEX® mug and indulge in the flavour.

So far so good.

Love my Ottomatic 2

It's simple. It's efficient. I had been using the Chemex carafe and doing a manual pour-over. It made great coffee, but it was a little labour intensive. The Ottomatic 2.0 is a 3 step process. Fill the carafe with water to the leather thong, pour it into the reservoir, hit the start button. The coffee is consistent and perfect every time. The machine is compact and stylish, not loaded with complicated bells and whistles. It's a little pricey, but worth the expense, given it's quality and reliability.

Good machine

Seems to be very well made, solid, and heavy. Makes good coffee quickly and so much easier than boiling and pouring over grounds with a single carafe. Also enjoy the warmer on the base. No need to heat up each cup.

Great Unit

I got this to replace the Bonavita Coffeemaker I used before. This is a very nice unit and I especially like the spray head - very even - makes great coffee very consistently.

A great pour-over without the arm workout!

"Took this brewer home a little while ago and I have almost no complaints so far! The set-up is the same as a traditional Chemex, but there's no need to stand around and add the water for a minute and a half - just rinse your filter, weigh out 60 g of ground coffee, fill the water tank to the 6 cup line. and flick the power switch. Come back in about 4 minutes, and you've got a full Chemex full of coffee! I love the consistency and the overall quality, and my non-coffee-nerd partner uses it and loves not having to fuss over it.

My only grumble is more with automatic brewers in general, compared to brewing by hand, and it's to do with the water tank. It seems like there's always a small amount of water left behind in the tank at the end of the brew, which stops the element from overheating. I'm curious how accurate your water weight/volume can be when this is the case. I've found that I've gotten quite a consistent and delicious cup so far, but my perfectionist brain doesn't like not knowing my exact specs! The one that I have at home is actually the first version (not the 2.0), so it's possible that they've addressed this in the new version, but I'm not sure.

I'd definitely recommend this brewer if you want something that looks great, doesn't take up a lot of space on the counter, and makes a great cup of coffee without a lot of effort!"
